This page lists information relating to attending the conference. Conference LocationThe conference will be held at the Bourbon Orleans, A Wyndham Historic Hotel , in New Orleans, Louisiana. This is where the 2nd and 11th Tcl/Tk conferences took place. The Bourbon Orlean, and the French Quarter both survived Katrina. The Bourbon Orleans has been recently renovated. The French Quarter is pretty much like normal. The hotel is holding a block of 35 rooms for us until Aug 23d at a rate of $129/night (Queen Deluxe) $149/night (King Deluxe) and $199/night (triple or quad). This rate is valid for the nights of 20-Sep-2007 through 02-Oct-2007. To get this rate, you must contact the hotel directly at +1-504-523-2222 and tell them you are with the Tcl/Tk Conference. Online Registration will not work. TransportationAirNew Orleans is served by Louis Armstrong International (MSY), as well as several private pilot/charter strips. GroundNew Orleans is served by Greyhound and Amtrak. LocalIt will not be necessary to rent a car for the duration of the conference. There is no curb side parking in the French Quarter (the area where the hotel is). Parking at the hotel is $27/day (in-and-out valet)/ You can reach the Bourbon Orleans from the airport by Taxi ($26 one way) or Airport Shuttle ($26 round trip). I Once you reach the hotel, there are many fine restaurants, microbrew pubs, jazz and folk clubs, etc within a short walk or a short cab ride puts hundreds more within you reach. ConnectivityThe Bourbon Orleans has internet connections in each room and wireless access in the public area. To receive this free service, sign up ahead of time for Wyndham ByRequest , For presenters, computers will be available for use during your presentation. These will be equipped with Linux, Windows 2000 with MS Office or OpenOffice. New OrleansFor those of you coming early or staying late, New Orleans is a beautiful city with many offerings to entertain you. The downtown and campus area have some good brewpubs, excellent restaurants, jazz, folk and rock music clubs, professional, repertory, commercial and art movie theaters, and a lot more.
